The journey
A serene corner most travellers never reach — paddling among limestone, staying with Tày families.
Depending on your nationality and length of stay you may need a visa in advance — most travellers use the official e-visa. We'll send clear, up-to-date guidance for your passport once you book.
The north is loveliest in spring (Mar–Apr) and autumn (Sep–Nov); winters on the high plateaus are cold and atmospheric. We time each departure to the season — and can shift it to suit you.
Light, breathable layers, a warm mid-layer for the highlands, broken-in walking shoes and a light rain shell. We send a tailored packing list for your exact route and dates.
Dress modestly at temples and family homes (shoulders and knees covered), remove your shoes when you see a pile at the door, and bargain gently and with a smile at the markets.
